CRICKET legend David Gower was so impressed by a Romsey choir he has agreed to become their patron.
David, from Braishfield, appeared alongside Romsey Male Voice Choir (RMVC) at Winchester Cathedral last November at a concert in aid of Prostate Cancer.
This week RMVC announced that the show raised £8,869.51 – a record sum for the green-jacketed group’s charity endeavours.
David Gower accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity from choir president Keith Lawrens, chairman Geoff Skinner and concert director David Willsher.
RMVC are back in action for another good cause tomorrow (Saturday) when they perform at Test Valley School, Stockbridge in a concert in aid of the Alex Lewis Trust.
The event will be compered by another sporting legend Dickie Davis, of ITV World of Sport fame.
On May 2 the RMVC moves up the Test Valley to Andover to perform at St Mary’s Church with Andover Town Band at a concert to raise funds for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice and other charities.
