ONE of the country’s star conductors and a veteran of the Proms is heading to Winchester for a concert in the cathedral.
Sir Roger Norrington will lead the Easter concert this Saturday, featuring more than 100 singers.
The concert of Bach’s work the St Matthew Passion will include The Waynflete Singers, supported by the Winchester Cathedral Boy Choristers and Chamber Choir, and highly-regarded orchestra Southern Sinfonia.
A first-class line-up of solo singers will be performing the lead roles of the passion story, including the tenor, Ben Hulett, who started his singing career at the cathedral in the boys’ choir and William Kendall, who studied with the great singers Robert Tear and Peter Pears.
The concert starts at 6pm.
