Julian Lloyd Webber, Concorde Cub, Eastleigh

AN influential classical musician has announced a special concert series taking the audience on a musical journey of his life.

Julian Lloyd Webber is stopping off at the Concorde Club in Eastleigh on the second night of the 31-night tour which finishes in July.

He will be joined on stage by his fellow cellist and wife Jiaxin Lloyd Webber and pianist Pam Chowhan to perform work from across his varied and illustrious career.

For the first time Julian will take the audience on a historical and musical journey presenting a unique insight into his extraordinary life.

As a member of arguably the most influential musical dynasty of modern times, he will recount stories and anecdotes from touring, recording sessions, concerts and TV shows.

It will link with a new presentation of rare video footage of him talking and performing with the likes of Nigel Kennedy, Elton John, Katherine Jenkins, Tim Rice, Yehudi Menhuin, Joaquin Rodrigo, Cleo Laine, Stephane Grappelli and many others.

The show will see works performed from Faure’s Elegy, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Music of the Night, Rachmaninov’s Cello Sonata through to composers William Lloyd Webber, Frank Bridge, JS Bach and Philip Glass.

For this special performance Julian is inviting his fellow cellists to bring along their own instrument to perform on stage with him, and one audience member will have the once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to have a mini masterclass.

Julian Lloyd Webber is at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club on February 26 at 9pm. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost £25 for members and £32 for non-members. Go to theconcordeclub.com to book.
