An art trophy named in honour of his wife has come home to amateur painter Derek Roblett.
The Roblett vase, named in memory of Derek’s late wife Valerie, is awarded each year to the artist who paints the public’s favourite picture at Chilworth Art Group’s annual exhibition held in Romsey Town Hall.
This year Derek, from Shirley was the winner for the first time with his acrylic “Man Fishing at Hill Head” (pictured below left) earning the most votes from visitors to the exhibition.
He was presented with the trophy by last year’s winner Janet Parsons (above left).
Janet almost retained the vase – her picture of chicks in a nest, entitled “Cheep Cheep” was third in the poll. Runner-up was Mike Smithson with his watercolour “Boat Yard”.
