This autumn’s production by the Braishfield Music and Drama Society (BMADS) is the Victorian farce Dandy Dick.
It was written by Arthur Wing Pinero, author of other favourites such as The Magistrate and The Second Mrs Tanqueray.
The Dandy Dick of the title is a racehorse and the plot centres on the respectable but hard-up Dean of the sleepy country town of St Marvells, whose domestic life is turned upside down by the arrival of his horse-mad, gambling sister Georgiana who has come down for the local races.
The Dean – played by Peter Quarendon who has also designed the sets –- has to contend with the extravagance of his wayward daughters, the plotting of his sly butler, and his own conscience. Dandy Dick runs at Braishfield Village Hall next Friday (November 21) and the following Saturday at 7.30pm each evening with a preview performance on Thursday.
Tickets priced £7 (children £3) are now available from Margaret O’Keeffe on 01794 368037 or by email at terryokeeffe123@ btinternet.com.
