The world’s most northerly inhabited island is the subject of a talk in Romsey next week.
Amateur naturalist and photographer Alan Key will give an illustrated talk entitled "The Polar Bears and Wildlife of Svalbard” to the Romsey group of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Naturalists Trust (HIWWT).
Alan will describe his trip aboard a Russian research vessel around the island of Svalbard, which is home to seabirds, reindeer, arctic foxes as well as seals which are the food for its famous concentration of polar bears.
The talk, which will be the group’s last before Christmas, is on Monday, November 17 at 7.30pm in the Crosfield Hall. Admission is £3.
Further information about the HIWWT and the Romsey Group is available from Janet Levitton on 01794 519262.
