Romsey Abbey looks forward to some special events next week.

The Sixth St Ethelflaeda Festival features two particular highlights celebrating the role of women in the church.

A one-woman show “A Letter from Paul” is presented by Jane Bower at 7.30pm on Thursday (October 23). Jane is a highly acclaimed writer and actress and this performance has drawn high praise. It is a dramatic exploration of the Letter to the Romans.

Tickets cost £5 and are available on the door.

This year’s Ethelflaeda Lecture is given by Kate Adie OBE, the respected and renowned journalist and author, entitled “Christian Women in World War 1”. The talk on Saturday, October 25 at 7.30pm is free with a retiring collection.

Further information on all the wonderful services and events taking place next weekend can be found at romseyabbey. org.uk or pick up a leaflet from the Abbey.

Apologies to Brian Lamb in last week’s report on the festival we referred to him as Roger. He will give a tour of the Abbey entitled Ladies in the Life of the Abbey, starting at 3pm on October 25.
