A STRING quartet from The Royal Academy of Music will play in Stockbridge next month.

Following the popularity of the Bernadel String Quartet in June 2013, Stockbridge Music has booked The Delmege Quartet for October 4.

Music by the great composers Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn will be brought to the newly refurbished Town Hall.

They will perform three major works; Haydn’s String Quartet no.61, Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6 in F minor, and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 3 in C major.

A Stockbridge Music spokesman said: “All these works are considered to be among the greatest of their kind and this programme provides a rare opportunity to hear these totally contrasting masterpieces together in one evening. There is no doubt that the audience will be thrilled by their power and intensity.

“We are delighted to provide such excellent facilities for these outstanding music students, who appreciate the opportunity of performing outside London.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm, with wine from 6.45pm and in the interval at £2 per glass.

Tickets cost £10, and are available from John Robinson Butchers, Stockbridge High Street, The Lights Theatre Box Office in Andover on 01264 368368, or enclose a self-addressed envelope with a cheque made payable to Stockbridge Music to Roger Tym, The Old Manse, High Street, Stockbridge.

Early booking is advised.
