STEAM engine lovers will gather in full force next weekend to raise money for a cancer charity.

The Bill Targett Memorial Steam Rally will be held at Highbridge Farm in Eastleigh and it is expected to feature around 30 steam engines being paraded in a ring.

The annual event raises money for the Wessex Cancer Trust, in memory of Chandler’s Ford man and steam engine enthusiast, Bill Targett, who died almost 25 years ago.

The rally has been running since the 70s, and changed its name in his memory.

Up to 4,000 people are expected to attend across the weekend of May 17 and 18, with tickets available on entry.

It costs £5 for adults, £3 for children, or a family ticket for two adults and two children costs £15.
