RAODS’ latest production at the Plaza, Romsey, has been a confusing challenge for cast member, Nancy Longland. Her real-life father, Nick, plays her on-stage headteacher and, to add to the confusion, her real-life teacher, Steve Cosier, is playing her best friend’s dad!
Nancy plays one of the three stroppy pupils given a chance to change their lives in John Godber’s school comedy, Thick as a Brick (April 8-12).
It’s set in Common Road High, where new drama teacher, Mary Clifford, faces an uphill task convincing staff and pupils of the importance of the arts – not least because she has a stammer! With an energetic score by John Pattison, singing and dancing, Thick as a Brick offers all-round entertainment laced with humour and some telling comments on the education system.
Tickets available online at plazatheatre.com, or from the Romsey Tourist Information Centre, on 01794 512987.
