PIRATES are preparing to create mayhem at Woodley next week.

However, these fearsome looking characters won’t be pillaging the neighbourhood. They are taking part in Nomads’ production of Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates at the village hall.

Nomads’ secretary and treasurer, Claire Bromley, said: “It will be a fun-filled traditional pantomime put on by the local amateur dramatic group and the show contains everything a panto should have.

“After an evening of shouting and booing, people will come away wanting more,” said Claire.

Nomads, which has been running for nearly 40 years, has recently recovered from a membership crisis which nearly brought the curtain down for good on the group last year.

“We were lucky enough to gain some new members of Nomads, so we’ve been able to keep the show going. We’re always looking for new members to swell our ranks and ensure we carry on putting on productions well into the future. Martin Drake has joined us as stage manager and without his sterling efforts we couldn’t have done our latest production,” added Claire.

Performances are on Thursday (February 20) and the following Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm, plus a Saturday matinée at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 for adults and children and pensioners £5. Family tickets (two adult and two children) are £20. To book, call 01794 513860, or 01794 523578.
