A WINCHESTER theatre is celebrating after a fundraising night brought in £20,000.Staff from The Blue Apple Theatre said they were delighted at the result of The Blue Apple Ball at Winchester's Great Hall.

The evening featured performances from the theatre group, with comprises actors with learning disabilities, as well as an auction and a raffle.

The ball was held at the end of August and now that all the last minute donations are in, organisers are able to announce the result of the fundraising efforts.

Jane Jessop, Founding Director of the Blue Apple Theatre, said: “The £20,000 will go a long way to helping us continue to enable people with learning disabilities to benefit from all that comes from taking part in theatre and, as you saw on the night, become sparkly, fulfilled and more independent.”

The theatre's next event, partly funded by proceeds from the ball, will be a Christmas production of The Snow Queen from December 12 -to 14 at 7.30pm at the Tower.

Tickets will be available soon via the Theatre Royal Box Office.
