A CHARITY concert night is taking place in Winchester and will be headlined by Southampton-based performer Charley Macauley.

She will be joined at the Railway Inn at St Paul’s Hill by Zimbo Hook, Charlie Fitzgerald and Mac Brown on Friday, July 1.

Several DJs and even some live theatre performances are also planned at the event, which will run from 7pm to 2.30am with the DJs taking the later slots.

The gig is being organised by Harry Forrest, also known as promoter Funky Forrest, to promote the Don’t Lose the Music campaign.

It is an offshoot of Action on Hearing Loss – formerly the Royal National Institute for the Deaf – which aims to highlight the dangers of loud music.

The promoter has personal experience of the problem because his hearing was damaged by too much loud music, he said.

The concert aims to show that live concerts can be top quality without damaging hearing, and to raise money for the cause.

Tickets cost £4.50 through the web page www.wegottickets.com/event/123854 or cost £5 on the door.
