FRANK Turner has been pretty busy of late, but has found some time to come back home.
The folk, punk and all-round rock star returns to the Winchester Railway Inn on Monday, May 30 to conclude a solo summer tour.
But if you want to watch the gig, you might be too late, as tickets sold out within 60 minutes of them going on sale.
Thankfully it is not his only Hampshire stop, as he is playing the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth the night before.
Frank will be using the tour to promote his new album, England Keep My Bones, released on Monday, June 6 in the UK and Ireland.
Having been recently nominated for Best Solo Artist at the NME Awards, he said: “I can't wait to get this record out there.
“The new songs have been going down really well live, but I think that when people hear the studio versions they're going to go nuts. I think it's the strongest set of material I've had on one record.”
Recorded at Church Studios in Crouch End, Frank believes this album has found the quintessential English sound he has been searching for.
The new album is set to bring out the folk side of Frank a bit more than previous offerings, featuring an acappella song among contributions from folk singers Emily Barker and Chris T-T.
Following the tour, Frank goes on to a hectic summer schedule of festival appearances, including headlining the third stage at Download on Sunday, June 12 and then topping the bill at Blissfields in Bradley near Alresford in early July.
