3:10pm Tuesday 2nd December 2008

SXSC is going back to its roots for the winter of 2009 with a series of Americana shows at the Railway Inn, Winchester.

The season kicks off on Thursday January 8 with Minnesotan singer/songwriter Ben Weaver.

Ben’s sixth album, the Ax in The Oak, is the culmination of personal and musical growth for the 29 year old.

For the recording of the Ax in The Oak, he travelled from the Twin Cities, where he is based, to Chicago’s Engine Studios, where he teamed up again with producer Brian Deck, whom he worked with on his 2007 release, Paper Sky.

Following Ben will be Elliott Brood on Sunday February 15, Peter Bruntnell and the Murder of Crows, with Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo on Tuesday March 10 and Kill Henry Sugar and Tali Trow on Saturday April 11.

All shows start at 8pm.
