SOUTHMAPTON based synthy rockers The Rebs played to thousands of people at the sold out V Festival last weekend after winning the Road to V competition.
The band reached the final two out of 2,500 entrants and played on Saturday August 16 at Weston Park in Staffordshire and on Sunday August 18 at Hylands Park in Chelmsford along with big names that included Muse, Amy Winehouse and Stereophonics.
A panel of industry judges chose the winners.
The Rebs are Russell Edmonds, Vicky Averre-Beeson, Sim Cracknell and Nader Razaie.
The band put up a thank-you message on their Myspace page which read: "We just want to thank everyone who came to the Islington gig and gave us great support, and those of you who sent in reviews and messages supporting our music, we couldn't have done it without you!"
In a video on the V Festival's website, Russell said: "It has been fantastic. We knew we had a good chance because we knew we had good songs."
