2:45pm Saturday 26th July 2008
I have to say that I never thought that I would see the day that rock legend Alice Cooper played live in Southampton Guildhall.
However, yesterday, (Friday July 25) that day came.
I am still in awe of the fantastic light show, the amazingly talented band, and of course, the man himself, who has been strutting his stuff on stages across the world for longer than I have been alive and who is old enough to be my father.
Just standing in Southampton Guildhall last night was hot and sweat was pouring off me before I was even waving my hands in the air.
However, Alice Cooper encourages sweat and grime and the audience certainly revelled in that atmosphere last night.
Dads had dusted off their Alice Copper tour t-shirts from days gone by, while their offspring were jostling for new ones, and I noticed some very intricate body art and body jewellery.
The gig was certainly value for money as Alice Cooper did not disappoint.
He blasted onto the stage and pretty much played his whole back catalogue of greatest hits.
The master of dark rock prowled the stage in some elaborate costumes, accompanied at times, by some dancers, which added to the drama and theatre of his set.
I thought it was pretty fitting that one of his last songs was Elected', played on the staged where Southampton's councillor's are gleefully sworn in after every local election.
This was a mind blowing show, fit for a stadium, and the audience loved every second of it.
Roll in Motorhead in November!
