SOUTHAMPTON band The Rebs will make their TV debut on Wednesday, July 30, on Channel 4.
The quartet are one of the 14 finalists in Virgin Mobile's Road to V competition.
First prize is the coveted position of opening the festival, held in Chelmsford and Stafford, on Saturday August 16 and Sunday 17.
Headliners this year include Muse, Stereophonics, Kings of Leon and Amy Winehouse.
The Rebs are: Russell Edmonds, guitar/vocals, Vicky Averre-Beeson, keyboards, vocals, Sim Cracknell, drums and Nader Rezaie, on bass.
Russell said: "We have built up a really big stage presence which we are so excited to finally umleash on to the public, we just can't wait to get on stage and give it all we've got!"
Rosie Newey, head of music sponsorship at Virgin Media said: "The standard of entries to this year's Road to V was incredible, the fourteen finalists all have a great sound, we're really impressed. We'll just have to wait and see who the favourite two are and I wish The Rebs the best of luck."
A panel of judges, including Dirty, Pretty, Things frontman Carl Barat, NME's Mark Beaumont, as well as industry experts, will decide who wins, with the help of Channel 4 viewer reviews.
The winning band will be announced a week before the festival starts.
The Rebs are, surprisingly, still unsigned and are about to launch their debut EP at the Talking Heads, in Portswood, on Friday August 8.
Entry to the gig is £6 and fans who go to this gig will be able to pick up the limited edition CD for free.
