Hampshire-born Radio One DJ Scott Mills says pop Queen Madonna may have had her day.

Madonna doesn't have any 17-year-old fans, according to the Mills, a former pupil at Crestwood School, in Eastleigh .

The Radio 1 stalwart admitted: 'I don't think we play Madonna anymore.

'There is a lot of research, and if you ask a 17-year-old about her, they go “don't care” ... it's a sign of the times.'

He added: 'Things change. It's a generational thing. I like Madonna, but does a 17-year-old? She's [Madonna] probably not at the top of their list.'

Mills, 39, warned the pop chameleon she failed to reinvent herself successfully this time around at the age of 54.

He added: “And that's horrible, but that is the way it is. Youth audiences are so fickle in what they like and don't like, and they're quite opinionated.

”You have got to keep on top of that.”

The radio presenter was in Southampton over weekend to promote his autobiography Love You Bye: My Story during a book signing at the city's Waterstones, in WestQuay .

My kids turned their noses up at Madges recent shows in Abu Dhabi, good job too, she was awful, and two hours late getting on stage which in 40 degree heat is not good.

Go to @GuyOseary (Madonna's manager) on twitter. Check out the 20 or so photos of fans he's been posting from every show since the tour began! Then tell me she has no 17 yr old fans. You sir have no idea of fact, merely presumption. As a lifelong Madonna fan since the beginning, I probably fall into the age group you presume to be of all Madonna fans. Fact: I have over 500 Madonna fan followers on twitter. Fact: at least 300 of them are under 22 and of those around 60 or so are teens! Not a bad % ?! Fact: many Madonna fans in their 40's are Gaga fans too! Not me I hasten to add. One awful show of hers was enough!! Brw we listen to radio stations who play Madonna and she went down a storm at the Radio 1 Big weekend in Maidstone!!!

Excuse me, I'm 17 years old and she is my favorite artist! I discovered her when a friend told me that gaga ripped off her song express yourself so I decided to look her up. Then I was like OOOh! thats her! She came out with all those pop hits while I was still a young child. There was one song that stuck out in particular that came out when I was about 6, frozen. It's a song I remembered vaguely to the point where I didn't even remember any lyrics..just the instrumentals..but once I rediscovered it about a year ago I was like OOOH! THATS THE SONG THAT STUCK IN MY BRAIN THROUGH ALL THESE YEARS! But anyway, my mom was a madonna fan and I just remember seeing all the hit music videos like music, hung up and sorry. and hearing ray of light, frozen, bad girl etc. Yeah, shes my favorite artist and listenning to her music brings back childhood memories..now, its that gaga I don't really give a crap about.
