All systems go for another BBC Blast

CREATIVE young people aged 13-19 will be able to unleash their imagination in a series of free workshops when BBC Blast returns to Southampton for three days from Thursday.

Blast gives teenagers the chance to try out new skills, showcase their own work and find out more about working in the creative industries.

It returns to Hoglands Park with an impressive mobile creative village, complete with digital workshop spaces and separate performance area.

Yeah, Guitar Hero... really creative. Real guitar was too diffulcult to learn and takes too much dedication and time. Says a lot doesnt it.

A great FREE day out, my kids loved it last time and this time are old enough for the workshops. Maybe you should visit first hand and see just how talented loads of our young people are!

I go to places like the Joiners. They ACTUALLY play musical instruments there. Some are very talented and it's great to see these young bands develop over the years.

The BBC Blast event isn't just about music. There are so many different workshops to chose from including comic strips - led by someone from Titan books (ie, V for Vendetta, Watchmen), digital soundtrack recording, film-making from stills, bollywood dancing, beatboxing and Mc-ing, hip hop with baby J....

It's amazing how this is all free as the BBC pumps a lot of money into it. If you're creative you should know it's all about gaining experience first hand and building up a portfolio so I would urge anyone creative, or anyone who knows anyone creative to sign up online.

stEmmosfire... if you play in a band you should still consider signing up for BBC Blast as I know there is a live-band experience as well as a showcase event. Think about all the contacts etc you could make - and who might be there to see you play? This year BBC Blast in Southampton is in conjunction with SOCO - a southampton based music project. Check it out, I reckon you would appreciate it.

Sorry St Emmos, I think the picture is a bit misleading, there were definately lots of young people playing live last time! Should be a good'un. - Thanks for tips cb - I didn't realise you could sign up online.
