A TEENAGER who collapsed suddenly at a Hampshire school last week died of natural causes.
Phyllis Kwan, 17, a boarder at St Swithun’s School, Winchester , was rushed to Royal Hampshire County Hospital last Thursday afternoon but died shortly after arriving.
A post-mortem on Friday revealed she died of natural causes and a Central Hampshire coroner’s officer confirmed there would be no inquest.
She had just started her A-levels at St Swithun’s after coming to the school from Hong Kong.
Head teacher Jane Gandee, said pupils and staff were shocked and saddened following Phyllis’s death. She said: “Phyllis was a popular and caring girl who was excited about starting her A-levels and eager to be involved in the wider life of the school.
“She was greatly looking forward to playing in the orchestra this term.
“Pupils and staff are deeply shocked by her death and our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”
Pupils and staff have held a service in the school chapel for Phyllis and there will be a memorial service at the school in the coming weeks.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and her family have been informed.
