A MUM is keeping her child off school after she claimed his arm was broken in a bullying incident.
Kani Trehorn alleges her son Charles, 10, has been bullied for several months.
However the school says the injury was the result of an accident.
But Ms Trehorn, 43, of New Milton, said she felt let down by the authorities and was keeping Charles at home for his own safety.
Charles is a pupil at Ashley Junior School, which has launched an investigation into a series of complaints made by his mother.
The family has also contacted Hampshire County Council, the police and the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).
Ms Trehorn said her son had been “tormented”, thrown into stinging nettles, had insects put inside his clothing and even been grabbed by the throat.
Charles, who is being taught at home by his mother, said he broke his arm in two places after he was attacked at school.
Ashley Junior School head teacher Ian Rix confirmed that Charles’s arm had been broken but said it was an accident.
He added: “We have a robust antibullying policy and have a good record in that respect. All allegations are taken very seriously.
“I am always willing to speak to parents and talk things through.
“Ms Trehorn has made a number of allegations, which are being investigated by the governors. Her son’s arm was fractured but I don’t think there was any intent.”
A Hampshire Police spokesman said Ms Trehorn contacted them and officers spoke to the head teacher and decided to leave the matter in the hands of the school.
She added: “Our last contact with her was in early December. There was no evidence of any criminal behaviour.”
