Promises auction to help Burgate School

BURGATE School and Sixth Form Centre will be holding an auction of promises on Friday to raise funds for a new sports hall.

The school currently has several outstanding sportsmen and women among its pupils, including three county badminton players, county-level players in rugby and boys’ and girls’ football, national track cycling representatives and UK youth orienteers.

The auction is part of a final push to raise the £50,000 that will trigger enough funding to complete the project.

The school already has planning permission for the building, which will be used by pupils and the local community.

The evening will begin at 7pm with auctioneer Adrian Dowding selling lots donated by parents, staff, governors, friends and local businesses.
