HAMPSHIRE students were treated to a day celebrating music when a composer visited Wyvern College.

Pupils from Durley, Upham, Stoke Park and Fair Oak were visited by composer Alexander L’Estrange who spent the day coaching as part of the annual Pyramid Vocal Festival.

Students were preparing for a specialist concert performance at Thornden Hall.

The composer’s theme for this year’s event was entitled Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose, a fusion of Tudor music and sea shanties exploring the musical heritage of Britain.

The composer, choir and orchestra told the story about the Mary Rose, the Tudor ship currently on display at Portsmouth dockyard.
