Teachers rally at Speakers' Corner in Southampton before march through city
Around 150 teachers and supporters are gathering at Speakers' Corner in Hoglands Park to hear from union leaders and leader city teachers in support of today's industrial action.
One of the speakers was head of Bassett Green Primary School, Liz Filer who said she was proud to stand with her staff in protest at the changes to the teaching profession.

She went as far as calling for a general strike across the country from all workers' unions such was the strength of feeling among staff, she said, that changes being pushed through by the government were wrong.
She told the crowd assembled at the city centre park:"If we don't stand up for our children's education, who will?"
Protestors who held aloft banners with the slogan "Gove out" and "Mr Gove, this is your notice to improve" also heard from union leaders who said the day of action was a clear sign to the government from teachers.
Earlier there were picket lines seen at Itchen College where the staff walkout had forced the college to shut.
More than 100 schools have been forced to close or partially close across the Daily Echo region as a result of the joint day of action by the NUT and NASUWT in protest of pay, pensions and conditions.
