Platinum joy for Shirley Warren’s prize singers
PUPILS proved they were top of the tops when they celebrated clinching a national singing award.
Youngsters from Shirley Warren Primary and Nursery School hosted a vibrant concert yesterday to mark gaining a Platinum Sing Up Award.
The accolade is granted to schools embracing singing in their curriculum and wider communities and follows the Warren Crescent school’s previous Gold Award.
Teachers and parents clapped and swayed as youngsters belted out pop, calypso and acapella tunes led by music teacher Helen Mead, pictured with pupils.
Mrs Mead told the audience: “We are so lucky to be inundated with children here who have such a talent for singing.
