Hampshire schools get involved with Safer Internet Day

SCHOOLS across Hampshire learnt how to keep safe online as part of international Safer Internet Day.
Police spoke to schoolchildren and parents about social networking, emailing, texting, chat rooms, instant messaging, online grooming, cyber bullying, the dangers of posting pictures and videos online, online gaming and the dangers of hacking and viruses.
Among the schools visited was Sherborne House School in Chandler’s Ford.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight police forces launched the project in which they speak to schools about the dangers of the internet in September and have so far spoken to more than 6,500 children, raising awareness of online safety.
Anyone wishing to have an internet safety presentation at their school should speak to a PCSO at their local station.
