BUSINESS leaders and entrepreneurs gathered for the launch of the 12th annual Winchester Business Excellence Awards.
Founded and organised by the Hampshire Chronicle and its partners Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, the awards recognise business excellence across the Winchester district.
Around 80 people attended the launch at the Holiday Inn at Morn Hill last Thursday, using the chance to learn more about the prestigious awards.
Keith Redbourn, editor of the Hampshire Chronicle, said: “As we all know Winchester is a great place to do business, and that’s why the Chronicle decided to set up these awards to make sure business excellence was recognised and rewarded across the district each year.”
Chris Turner, executive director of Winchester BID, explained the various award categories, which this year include some new additions.
He said: “On June 13 this year the Guildhall will be packed with hopeful people coming forward to receive awards.
“We are very grateful to Denplan for stepping forward again this year as our main sponsor.” Stephen Gates, managing director of Denplan, said: “It was fantastic to see so many different businesses at the launch event on Thursday night, which hopefully gives an exciting indication of the diversity of award entries we’ll receive this year across a broad range of industries.
“I’d encourage all local businesses to apply — it’s a great opportunity to showcase what you do and receive the recognition you deserve.”
