MATT Richbell has been named as the new reception manager at The Winchester Hotel.
The 24-year-old landed the role at the venue in Worthy Lane, Winchester, after joining as a management trainee three years ago.
Born and raised in Winchester, he trained with AFC Bournemouth to be a professional footballer.
A back injury ruled out a career on the pitch, but he took on the communications role for The Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) instead.
He will tackle that role in tandem with being the new boss behind the reception desk at the four-star hotel.
He said: “I have worked at the hotel for good few years and believe I have shown how quickly I have learned and developed the necessary skills.
“It also is great to work with such a supportive and respectful team. Being ‘front of house’ and the first point of contact for guests, no two days are ever the same and you meet people from all walks of life.
“You have to respond to any given situation and it can certainly keep you on your toes!”
