STAFF at an Overton pub are celebrating the first eight weeks of trading following its complete refurbishment.

The White Hart re-opened on June 10 after being closed for three years and has served over 5,500 people during its first two months.

It is the 13th pub to be taken over by the Upham Pub Group as part of their county-wide takeover to transform up to 40 pubs to improve village communities and keep traditional pubs open.

Head chef, Simon Lawrence, has already gained a good reputation, promoting locally sourced food and an innovative style of cooking. His menu features a combination of rustic classic pub grub to signature à la carte dishes.

Manager Kate Leeke said: “It was clear from the moment we re-opened our doors how popular and long awaited this relaunch would be. There's a fantastic buzz throughout the pub seven days a week - we had a clear vision for this pub and its offering, and we're delighted it's proving a success.

“This area of Hampshire is a huge draw for tourists and we're hugely excited to now welcome overnight guests too into our 12 bedrooms. They can each be assured of waking up to a sumptuous full English breakfast too.”
