A 25-YEAR-OLD Winchester woman has set up her own “home from home” boutique bed and breakfast.

Hannah McIntyre spent two years refurbishing a property in Parchment Street she’d been given by her father to launch Hannah’s – a three-bed “haven” – most of which she has renovated herself.

Partly inspired by furnishings and fittings at her mum’s shop – Jane McIntyre Design in Southgate Street – she embarked on a one-woman journey taking the site right back to its basic structure before creating her niche business.

She left school in the New Forest before doing a year at music college in London, then moving to Winchester in her late teens.

“I was singing before I did this and decided it wasn’t very lucrative,” she said. “Now I just sing at friends’ weddings.

“I’ve always been around catering, working in hospitality in some way, and I really enjoy parties and hosting so I thought it might be a nice to open a B&B.

“I still get nervous up until the guest arrives and then when they get here I can’t stop talking to them – always baking cakes for them or chatting to them at the bar.”

So far she’s been given 20 reviews on Trip Advisor – all of which have seen her awarded five stars for her hospitality.

Her carpenter stepfather helped design the bed headboards while she sourced fabrics and other items from either her mother’s shop or eBay.

“It was amazing she was there really, while both of them were,” she added. “I have six lovely people come and stay for a couple of nights and everyone’s been really great. They’ve left me really good reviews telling me they don’t want to leave!”
