A DERELICT petrol station in Bishop’s Waltham will stay standing after demolition plans were thrown out by civic chiefs.
Budgens wants to flatten its garage in Winchester Road, previously run by Texaco, and tout it to developers.
But its scheme was refused by Winchester City Council because it didn’t include plans to rebuild on the site.
The station has been closed for over two months.
A Budgens spokesman said the firm was set to resubmit its plans but will “never” rebuild on the site itself.
“We’re not intending to do anything with it,” she said. “There’s no grand plan.
“We will simply ask again if we can demolish rather than just leave the disused station there.”
Planners called the garage “visually detrimental” but said bulldozing it without plans for replacement could deprive residents of facilities.
