A COUPLE from Owslebury have set up shop in the Isle of Wight to give an extra boost to a seaside resort.

Sally and John Tattersall have launched Seaside and Sailing in Seaview selling a number of products for keen sailors and families enjoying a day at the beach.

They also hope to start selling Christmas gifts bringing in extra custom, trading seven days a week, throughout the winter period.

Mrs Tattersall said: “We’ve had such a positive response. We invited local businesses and got people that we thought would come in and have a look and nearly everyone said ‘Wow! It’s such a change!’ which has been great.

“It says a little bit about what we’re doing. We want to be open both summer and winter because we want to keep this community going.”

Working with Mr and Mrs Tattersall is Jacqui Herod, who has worked in numerous places within the town over the last 50 years, and Richard Clark, the new shop manager.

“It’s been really steady this summer, really good,” Mrs Tattersall added.

“People are really enthusiastic to hear that we’re going to try to keep it going over winter. They’ve been amazed by it really and we’re going to try and bring in the Christmas crowds with other stock too, not just for the keen sailors.”
