A HOOK business that has clearly been groomed for success has scooped a significant clutch of awards.

U International, based at Stanley House, in London Road, Hook, won a hat-trick of awards from a leading online sales website lookmantasic. U International is behind an impressive range of shaving, skin and hair products marketed under the men-u brand name The company, set up 10 years ago and employing 15 people won the lookmantastic Hair & Grooming Awards 2012 top accolade with the Special Recognition Award in the Best For Grooming category.

In the Face/Special Care Skin Product, the company won the customer award for its Matt Skin Refresh Gel and it won the Expert Award in the Face/Best Moisturiser for its Facial Moisture Lift.

U International commercial director Kenny Fish was delighted with the awards, presented by TV personality Caroline Flack at London’s exclusive restaurant, The Ivy.

He said: “I think this says we’re doing something right. One of the reassuring things with this type of award is that you are up against most of the top brands in the industry.”

“We’re already an established brand, but lookmantastic and their customers see us as a brand for the future, where we are competing with the likes of Gillette and King of Shaves, and brands American Crew and Fudge.”

There are around 15 product lines in the men-u range, from toners to shampoos, hair styling products, shaving creams and synthetic bristle brushes.

“The thing with men-u is that we are an ultra concentrated range of products – so a little goes a long way,” said Kenny.

“Our objective as a brand is to introduce more men to quality grooming.”

U International’s men-u range is sold all over the world and can be purchased locally at Taylor Made in London Street, in Basingstoke’s Top of the Town, and at Emperors, at Basepoint Basingstoke, in Stroudley Road.
