A LOYALTY card to boost business for independent shops is being launched in Winchester and Alresford.
It is the brainchild of Henry Cartwright and he has already signed up 15 stores, restaurants and cafes.
The loyalty scheme – known as the Gift Horse Card – offers discounts to users of about 10 per cent on most products Monday to Friday.
The cards can be bought for £10 and if used regularly could save shoppers hundreds of pounds across a range of shops.
Mr Cartwright, a businessman based in St James Terrace in Winchester, said: “One of the great things about Winchester and Alresford is, of course, the independent shops, which are reflections of the owners’ personalities as much as anything else.”
He started to recruit traders to his scheme around five months ago, and the first cards have just gone on sale.
Several traders in the scheme have already joined the Daily Echo’s Buy Local, Shop Local campaign to promote Hampshire firms.
