FUNDRAISERS from a business walked their way to a haul for a charity.

Three staff members from occupational health provider Trident Medical Services (TMS), based on Calleva Park, Tadley, took part in a 35km sponsored walk at the weekend to help raise funds for Heather House – a residential nursing home for young adults in Tadley, run by the charity SeeAbility.

The team raised £1335 via donations and TMS as a business has matched this fundraising, bringing the total raised to £2,670.

Organised by Just Walk, the challenge took place on Saturday, 12 May in the South Downs starting from Goodwood Racecourse.

Suzy Drewett and Alison Haynes took on the challenge of walking 35km and Alan McLaughlin and his family walked the 10km – Alan with his grandson on his back.

TMS appointed SeeAbility as its charity of the year last September and set itself a target of raising £7,000 for Heather House.

Heather House supports 16 young people with life-limiting conditions, including a rare disease called juvenile Batten disease. It is the only residential service of its kind in the UK.

Fiona Penfold, managing director of TMS said: “We’re incredibly proud of our staff members for undertaking this challenge. It was a long day and there were some very steep hills along with some pouring rain so the team were certainly challenged.

"We’re delighted that they raised such a fantastic amount and are pleased to be able to match this, adding to our ongoing fundraising activities we’ve been carrying out throughout the year."
