THE Daily Echo Job Fair is a must for job seekers and employers.

The free event runs at Southampton Guildhall on September 19 from 10am to 3pm.

More than 25 organisations are taking part in the event offering a wide range of job and training opportunities.

They include:

  • ACRO Criminal Records Office based near Fareham, is a crucial link between UK police forces and overseas in exchanging criminal conviction histories. Other services include providing criminal records certificates to the public, helping people access and manage information about them on police databases and supporting the criminal justice work of agencies requesting access to information on the Police National Computer (PNC). ACRO staff are Hampshire Constabulary employees with force’s benefits and terms and conditions.
  • Active Assistance Group is a highly successful specialist care provider which helps physically disabled clients to live independently in their own homes. It is currently recruiting for support worker positions across Hampshire. Various full and part- time positions, with day and waking night shifts are available. Experience is not essential as specialist training is provided.
  • Apex Prime Care is a family-run business with the aim of assisting and promoting clients’ independence, ensuring they have the abilities to stay at home as long as possible. At present approximately 50 per cent of staff either hold or are registered for Diplomas in Direct Care. All care workers employed by Apex undertake a comprehensive training induction programme.

If you already have a PCV licence, then you can take advantage of the firm’s £2,000 ‘Golden Handshake’. Alternatively, If you don’t have your PCV (Category D) licence, then they will train you from scratch at no cost provided you have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of six months and have no more than six points on your licence.

  • Pathfinder Personnel specialise in Port Operations in Southampton, based inside the port walls, acting as the sole supplier of labour to many of our clients. Its roles are varied from cruise ships to RORO vessels, warehousing to security. Its is currently recruiting for baggage handlers, car drivers, lashers and receptionists – no experience required.
  • Peter Symonds Adult & Higher Education Division offer a range of cost effective and accessible courses for all ages and abilities. Courses are available for adult learners and school learners, from basic functional skills, GCSE and Access to HE, to apprenticeships and full honours degrees. The college also offer a BA (Hons) in Insurance in partnership with Be Wiser (Andover), which is open to college leavers.
