NOW in their third year of fundraising for a Basingstoke cancer charity, law firm Clarke & Son Solicitors is aiming to raise £50,000.

Based in Winchester Road, the law firm was one of the first Our Partner corporate supporters of the fledgling charity the Ark Cancer Centre Charity back in February 2015.

Since then staff from Clarke & Son has hosted a range of events to bring in the cash from a charity golf day to a 24-hour sponsored Row to Nowhere, which saw members of the team piling on the pulling power on a static rowing machine in the firm’s boardroom.

The success of the 2016-17 fun draising drive means that the Clarke & Son team were delighted to present Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee Merv Rees with a cheque for £18,040.29.

Darren Lovegrove, marketing manager at Clarke & Son, said: “Ark Cancer Centre Charity is an amazing charity that we are all passionate about.

“The team have been delighted to exceed our fundraising efforts in 2015-16, and we are grateful to everyone who has sponsored and supported our various events.

“Raising money through The Good Exchange, where matchfunding for Ark is being provided by Greenham Common Trust, has helped us to achieve an amazing result in 2016-17 – and now we have set our sights on raising even more money this year as we aim to hit a £50,000 target over the three years that we have been supporting the charity.”

Each year the key fundraising events on the Clarke & Son calendar are the charity golf day and the charity ball at Oakley Hall, with the money raised from these events going to the charity.

Mr Rees added: “The support from the Clarke & Son team has been absolutely amazing. “They are a wonderful, friendly, fun and supportive team who have really thrown themselves into fundraising for the charity.

“Thanks to everyone who has supported the Clarke & Son team so far, and we are grateful to all those who support their drive to reach the £50,000 target.”
