HAMPSHIRE based Gleeds has been named Construction Consultant of the Year at the Building Awards ceremony held at Grosvenor House.

Building Magazine’s annual awards ceremony is one of the most prestigious events in the construction industry calendar.

The judges analysed Gleeds’ projects, the company’s commitment to inspiring and investing in people, giving back to the communities it operates in, and sustainable growth.

This year saw a record number of entries, with Gleeds seeing off competition from the likes of Arcadis, Faithful & Gould and Turner & Townsend to take home the award.

Tony Deacon, director for Gleeds in Southampton, said: “This is a really exciting achievement for our business and we feel extremely honoured to have been recognised with this award.

Having been based in the Southampton area for over 35 years, we’ve seen around 15 per cent growth in the last 12 months and look forward to playing our part in encouraging more investment into the region in the years to come.”

Commenting on the award, Gleeds chairman Richard Stride, who lives in Hamble, said: “I am delighted that the team’s hard work and dedication has been recognised with this award. As one of the few remaining independent consultancies in the UK, we’re committed to achieving sustainable growth and have made significant steps in investing in our internal infrastructure and teams in order to provide our clients with a first class service.”

The Gleeds team in Southampton is responsible for delivering The Student Centre at Bournemouth University, an extension to Associated British Ports head office and a new manufacturing facility for CooperVision.
