AN AIRLINE operating out of Southampton has announced a new flight as it extends its winter service.

Flybe has confirmed its winter programme for Southampton Airport, which includes a new daily service to Dusseldorf, in Germany.

It will now offer 17 routes and a choice of up to 420 flights a week between October 25 and March 26 next year.

The new Flybe Dusseldorf route will operate daily with flights leaving Southampton Airport at 5.20pm and departing Dusseldorf at 8.40pm on Monday to Friday and Sunday.

On Saturdays flights will leave Southampton Airport at 7.25am with a flight leaving Dusseldorf at 10.45am.

The airline has also added extra frequency from Southampton to its key hub airports of Manchester and Amsterdam Schiphol from where passengers can seamlessly connect for onward travel on the Flybe network or through other partners.

Flybe will also operate twice daily flights to and from Guernsey with an improved schedule convenient for day return travel.

Routes to Alicante and Malaga will operate until November 7 to accommodate half-term holiday travellers.

The winter schedule also includes the return of popular weekend ski routes to Chambery, in France, and Geneva, in Switzerland, and a choice of routes to regional France.

Dave Lees, Southampton Airport Managing Director, said: “Germany is the country most requested from Southampton Airport, so we are delighted that Flybe is starting flights to Dusseldorf. We are also pleased that they are increasing the amount of daily flights to Guernsey as these provide vital air links to and from the Channel Islands.”
