A CATERING equipment specialist in the South has served up a contract ace at the home of the world’s most famous tennis tournament.

Hampshire-based HCE carried out the major project in readiness for this year’s Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

This year’s event saw Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams win the gentlemen’s and ladies’ finals respectively.

Led by managing director Jon Greep the firm near Southampton sourced and installed catering equipment.

The project saw them work at a number of locations around the The All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Jon said the company was chosen because of their reputation in delivering top of the range facilities with previous contacts including work at the Shard and Ascot Racecourse other top class venues.

He said: “We obtained got this contract, which involved top-of-the-range catering facilities, through recommendation and previous jobs completed, such as The Shard, Royal Albert Hall and Ascot Racecourse.

“We were chosen due to our can-do approach and our desire to deliver the best possible project for the client.

“By utilising our strong and efficient project management capabilities, which ultimately ensures customer satisfaction each and every time.”

As part of the contract, HCE installed a first-floor kitchen and ground floor serveries at the Construction Support Village.

The centre will ultimately have capacity for 2,0000 Championships’ support staff.

HCE is headquartered at Chandler’s Ford.

Currently the firm employs 20 people was also involved in the disconnection, servicing and cleaning of existing equipment at The All England Lawn Tennis Club.

The club has hosted the Championships since 1877, the year Spencer Gore won the inaugural competition in front of around 200 spectators who paid one shilling each.

A few years later, in 1884, Maud Watson won the first women’s competition, winning a silver flower basket worth 20 guineas.
