THE MAYOR of Southampton has been the first person to pour a pint at a new pub.

Councillor Linda Norris officially opened the Malvern Tavern pub in Winchester Road with their first pulled pint.

She was invited to cut the ribbon to open the venue which has recently had a £200,000 refurbishment.

The investment has seen the Malvern Tavern, which is owned by Spirit Pub Company, introduce a new look, with a lighter colour scheme and some signature pieces of furniture.

The bar has also been completely revamped, with an extended selection of local and national ales and beers from across the world.

The menu has also been updated with a specials menu that will change on a regular basis.

General Manager, Antonia Da Silva, said: “We were honoured to have Councillor Linda Norris join us for the opening of the pub. She is very well respected in the community and we are thrilled that she was able to attend the launch and offer her support.

“The opening has been a real success with great feedback from regulars and visitors alike on the delicious new menu and the fantastic interiors. My team and I look forward to welcoming more guests in the coming weeks.”
