YOU may already have made a financial Lasting Power of Attorney so that your personal financial affairs can be managed on your behalf should you lose capacity due to illness or suffer a decline in mental function.

But if you are also a company director, a partner or you own your own business, you should also consider making a ‘Business’ Lasting Power of Attorney.

A Lasting Power of Attorney will allow decisions to be made in your business, on your behalf, by someone you choose and who you consider to have appropriate skills and experience.

If your business operates in countries outside England and Wales, you may want to consider creating an equivalent document in those other countries.
