SOUTH West Trains has been named Employer of the Year at a national awards ceremony.

The group’s recruitment team were presented the Young London Working Award at the Mayor’s Fund for London Awards ceremony.

Kelly Barlow, HR director for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance, said: “This is a great achievement and we are very proud to have been named Employer of the Year in the Young London Working Awards.

“It’s vital that young people are given the right opportunities to develop for the future and as a company that employs over 4,000 people and runs the busiest railway station in the country at London Waterloo, it’s important that we play our part in London’s future.

“We’re very pleased to be working with the Mayor’s Fund for London and we hope that we can develop this programme even further over the coming months and years.”

South West Trains was the only train company to be shortlisted in the awards, beating off stiff competition from clothing retailer Primark and the London-based estate agents Hamptons.
