A REGULAR Marks & Spencer customer opened the store’s new look cafe.

Karin Tydeman, who works as a part-time assistant at the Phase Eight concession, in Debenhams, was picked to do the ribbon-cutting honours at the M&S Cafe, in Festival Place.

The grandmother, from Black Dam, said: “It was a real honour to be asked to open the cafe. I think it looks lovely and it seems bigger now.”

It took about a month to complete the work, with seating capacity increased from about 80 to 100 covers.

Store manager Kathy Roper is also pleased with the refurbished cafe.

She said: “I think it was looking a little tired, but now it looks much brighter and open.

“The colour and contemporary look, with the art work, gives it a modern feel.

“The feedback we’ve had from customers and staff has been very positive.”
