A major provider of home care is coming to Romsey.

Bluebird Care, is expanding its operation from Winchester, Eastleigh & Alton into the Test Valley area, a move which it says will create 50 jobs.

The firm offers tailor-made home visits and 24-hour live-in care for the disabled, frail and vulnerable.

The Bluebird Care Group is a network of over 200 offices but locally it is owned by husband and wife team Norman and Claire Murphy, who opened their first office in Winchester in March 2012 and their second in Alton 18 months later.

After just one year they won the 2013 Winchester Business Excellence Award for ‘Small Business of the Year’.

The Romsey area will be covered by the Winchester office but a new office, set to open in Andover later his month, will cover Stockbridge and the northern part of Test Valley.

Norman Murphy said: “We are particularly passionate about keeping older and vulnerable people in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes rather than the often bleak alternative of residential care.”
