A NETWORKING event at Basepoint Winchester saw 25 local businesses meet with the founder of a charity in the Philippines.
Jane Walker created The Philippine Community Fund while on a break from work.
The holistic charity which operates in the slum areas in the Philippines offers various programmes such as livelihood and skills training for children who might otherwise be working in bad conditions and on rubbish dump sites.
Ms Walker also spoke about a ballet programme ran by dance company Ballet Manila that is offered to the most deprived neighbourhoods.
Lisa Rooney, Centre Manager at Basepoint said: “We were all moved by Jane’s story. Attendees found this a very worthwhile cause and many were interested in how they could take part in various volunteer schemes.”
