BASINGSTOKE businesses have been encouraging their staff to workout at work.

Physiotherapists from BMI Hampshire Clinic are supporting the initiative, which is being led by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

As part of the Workout @ Work Day, a team of staff from the Old Basing clinic visited The AA in Basing View last Thursday to help staff introduce simple exercises into their working day.

Physiotherapy manager at BMI Hampshire Clinic, Mike Topping, said: “Both employees and businesses are impacted by work-place stress, injury and illness.

“The aim of Workout @ Work is about giving sound advice to both employees and employers about how simple steps can improve workplace wellbeing, helping themselves and their teams avoid ill-health.

“We would really like to see as many people as possible developing healthier work habits for the longer term.”

There are three workouts, which have been designed to fit into the lives of busy people, which can be performed at work by the desk, with colleagues at lunchtime or at home.

Occupational health manager at The AA Elaine Dobson said: “It’s been a great chance for us all here at The AA to think about keeping fit for work by moving more.

“We hope that by getting our teams to be more active it will help their health and wellbeing, maintain their job satisfaction and even help overall productivity. Workout @ Work is also a great way to build morale and help with team-building.

“It’s been a really successful and energetic day.”
