THERE is a week to go to enter the INSPIRE Business Awards 2014 – the deadline is August 15.

Thirteen categories up for grabs including New Business of the Year, which is being sponsored by marketing agency Xcite Digital.

Rob Walker, founder and managing director of the Farnham-based business, is himself a previous INSPIRE winner, having won the Young Business Person of the Year award in 2010.

And Rob has some good advice for those looking to enter the awards.

“Put something down as quickly as you can and then expand on it,” said Rob. “I think a lot of people might be put off by the level of detail they think they need.

“Secondly, it’s not all about the money. There are so many businesses that do so much more than make a big profit – these are the areas that I would go into to help you stand out.”

The Breeze Basingstoke and North Hampshire is sponsoring the Small Business of the Year Award.

Belinda Allen, managing director for the Thames Valley Region, based at Festival Place, said the radio station is proud to support this award once again.

“It’s important to celebrate business excellence on all levels, and SMEs are the beating heart of our vibrant economic environment,” said Belinda.

“SMEs are full of people going the extra mile to make things happen, and they turn great ideas into sustainable businesses.”

And for those thinking of entering the award category, Belinda said: “Share the passion for your business and tell us what makes it great.

“The nomination should show a clear route, not only to your current position but also to your predicted future growth and opportunity. “ More information about the awards can be found at inspirebusinessawards.co.uk.
