A NEW self-appointed one-stop shop for all things “vintage” is due to be launched in Winchester.

Molly’s Den, based at Wessex Gate on Moorside Road, has been set-up following the success of its other emporiums in Bournemouth and New Milton.

Former commodity broker Dean Souter decided to create the space, specifically aimed at selling shabby chic and fashionable “vintage” items, at a large warehouse in the city.

It is currently being converted to accommodate a tea room, market stalls and a children’s area.

Mr Souter said: “It’s been hard work but the public’s reaction has been amazing. As with all new businesses, we’ve had our issues along the way but overall I am absolutely delighted with the positive vibes from the traders, community and customers.”

Mr Souter’s move is a direct response to the rapidly growing demand for “vintage” items, from clothes and accessories to furnishings and memorabilia, which he aims to take one step further by launching specifically-designed “vintage” fashion shows and music events at a later date.

Approximately 50 shipping containers will also be converted into individual leased units open to different retailers selling similar-themed produce.

It is hoped the new site will be officially opened at its launch on August 1.
